The Long And The Short Of It.

Running On Empty

I read where Mr. Bush is lamenting the high cost of motor fuel in this country, referring to it as a “tax on the common working man” (that is if you still have a job).  He said “it was a long time coming, and there isn’t any quick fix on the horizon.”

Which I kind of disagree with.  I mean here it is about a buck a gallon and the first thing you know, it is almost four times that.

Seems it hit pretty quick to me.

Once again, he is whinning about our dependence on foreign oil and how we need to break it.  You want us to tighten up our belts and do our part, fine.  Might want to check out a new hole on your waistline at the same time.  Here is a novel idea, how about the government curbing some of these unnecessary flights for frivilous meetings.

Here is an example.

Vice President Cheney, the shooter was in town Friday.  He was certainly doing his part to conserve, he only flew in “two massive jets” to get the job done.  He flew in on Air Force II and had an additional large aircraft flown in with his personal limo and I suppose the Secret Service people.

Here is the part that rankles me:  He stayed in Oklahoma City for approximately two hours and then jumped back on the “executive privilege xpress” and beat it back to Washington DC. Might have been in a hurry to get back and didn’t want to miss “Happy Hour.”

Wonder how much fuel this “little fund raiser for the party of choice” cost (It’s over $5.21 a gallon in the private sector) and how many gallons did it consume?

Maybe the next time he is town, he can explain to us why … Army Staff Sgt. Bryan E. Bolander, 26, Bakersfield Ca, Army Staff Sgt. Chad  Caldwell, 24, Spokane Washington, Army Staff Sgt.Jerry LeLoach, 45, Jackson Georgia, Army Sgt. First Class, Lawrece D Ezell, 30, Portand, Texas, Army Spc. Jeffrey F Nichols, 21, Granite Shoals Texas, Capt. Andrew R. Pearson, 32, Billings, Montana and Spc. Ronald J. Tucker, 21 of Fountain Colorado … All died in Iraq while he was busy raising more blood money for the party.

I like to know if he has a valid answer to a question like that.

We Are The Enemy

Suddenly this crazy world is starting to make sense to me.  You come in on some mornings, sit down with the obligatory cup of Joe, and you face the blank screen and hope you find something that will entertain, inspire, or fill the gap between your ears.  The news is dismal at best, seems no one has any good news, and often it gets you down.  My heart, for lack of a better word,  just isn’t in it this morning.

With all my heart.

My heart wasn’t in it.

Lionhearted.

Heartless.

I guess we divide man into distinct characters or personality traits and use the “heart” for the main thrust.  Man’s personality divides into intellect, sensibility (emotion), and will.  Proverbs 12:11 states that “he who follows frivolity is devoid of understanding” (heart).  So much for intellect.  The heart runs the whole gauntlet of emotions, from good to bad.  Think about it.

There is a reason for my apparent discontent, and that reason wells up from deep inside me.  We make ourselves unhappy all the time.  Often I sit here, in the still of the morning,  and I wonder why?

Who elects worthless politicians year after year and wonders why nothing gets done?

We do.

Who is it that puts these incompetents in office, and when they ____ up

we allow them to stay another term?

We do.

Who is that embraces the unappealing evil things of life, and toss away the good

We do.

Who hires illegal immigrants?

We do.

Who is it that is constanty complains about them, but allows them to stay.

We are.

Who buys the narcotic’s that destroy American families?

We do.

Who redistributes the wealth of hardworking people,

to give it to the nonproductive among us, just to feel good?

We do.

Who complains when big business’s make millions in profits

for supplying millions of jobs

We do.

Who buys their products after they outsource your fellow Americans’ job overseas

We do.

Who is it amongst us, that celebrate foul mouthed rock stars

and Hollywood idols who supply us with nothing but trash.

We do.

Who complains about $50 - $60 tanks of gasoline,

and then buy $75 worth of useless PowerBall tickets - Scratch offs?

We do.

Who sits back and listens to hate speech but won’t tolerate

a moderate disagreement from others?

We do.

Who voted liquor by the drink to support education?

We did.

Who voted in the Indian casinos and lottery for better schools.

We did.

Who is going bankrupt from the same industries we voted in to fix our problems?

We are.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt said it best …. “We have nothing to fear, but fear itself.”

We have found the enemy and it is us.

Border Xrossing

I swear to God, all this is driving me insane! This Email came to me out of Nevada 5-1-08

Mexican State Angry at Influx of Mexicans returning to Mexico

Can you believe the nerve of these people? Nine state legislators from the Mexican state of Sonora traveled to Tucson to complain about Arizona’s new employer crackdown on illegals from Mexico. It seems many Mexican illegals are now returning to their hometowns and the officials in the Sonora state government are ticked: A delegation of nine state legislators from Sonora was in Tucson on Tuesday to say Arizona’s new employer sanctions law will have a devastating effect on the Mexican state.

At a news conference, the legislators said Sonora - Arizona’s southern neighbor, made up of mostly small towns - cannot handle the demand for housing, jobs and schools it will face as illegal Mexican workers here return to their hometowns without jobs or money. The law, which took effect Jan.1, punishes employers who knowingly hire individuals who don’t have valid legal documents to work in the United States. Penalties include suspension or loss of a business license.

They’re pi**ed off because their own citizens are returning to their hometowns, placing a huge burden on their state government. This lady has some serious issues: They want to tell them how the law will affect Mexican families on both sides of the border ‘How can they pass a law like this?’ asked Mexican Rep. Leticia Amparano- Gamez, who represents Nogales. “There is not one person living in Sonora who does not have a friend or relative working in Arizona,” she said in Spanish.

“Mexico is not prepared for this, for the tremendous problems, it will face as more and more Mexicans working in Arizona and sending money to their families return to hometowns in Sonora without jobs,” she said. “We are one family, socially and economically,” she said of the people of Sonora and Arizona.

Wrong.

Welcome to OUR world, you come here take advantage of everything that is free, then have the audacity to complain?  The United States is a sovereign nation and its states and its citizens are not responsible for the welfare of Mexico’s citizens. It’s time for the Mexican government to stop parasitically feeding off of the United States and start taking care of its own citizens. If these people cannot accept that, then let’s buy them a can of spray paint, and let them write OUR elected officials in Washington DC.

The Email went on to say, “Too bad all the states don’t pass a law just like it.”

Well Bucko, there is good news on the horizon.

Oklahoma recently passed this very thing, last I heard, it was NOT being enforced. Why enforce it, when you can DEBATE IT. Maybe it is time that the individual states step up and show some national backbone, as those gutless twerps in Congress don’t seem to have any.

Day after day, it never seems to get resolved. It is enough to get a guy down. I was so depressed last night, I called Life-Line and got a call center in Pakistan. I told them that our open border, immigration mess and the elections had me down, that I was suicidal.

They got all excited and asked if I could drive a truck.
