Satan The Destroyer

The Devil made me do it.  Believe it was Flip Wilson who coined the term first.  Satan wanted to destroy the world, so he gave the world drugs.  Shortly thereafter he realized that not all the people in the world were going to do drugs, only the weak, the ineffective, the true losers in life.  The proverbial Monkey Wrench enters the picture, the snag in the master plan has been discovered.   He had to come up with something else.

Up On My Soapbox Again …

Life beyond the TV tray … Supper time, the talking heads are on NBC telling me how good I have it, ABC is reporting “most everyone is dead,” and CBS says “these people are dead right now, they just don’t know it.”  FOX has a hard hitting expose on which Movie Star got out of the limo last night at the awards show sans her underwear. CNN?  Uh huh, don’t even get me started. Continue reading

images-1A man decides to check out of the Rat Race and boards a plane to India.  Arriving there, he immediately finds a guide to take him to a Tibetan Monastery high in the Himalayas.  (Man, talk about a spelling challenged post?)

He arrives at the monastery and the Monk tells him in order to seek the knowledge and enlightenment of life he must fast and can only speak two words per year, nothing more.

At the end of the first year he looked at the head monk and said … “Bed Hard.”

At the end of the second year he looked at the head monk and said … “Food Bad.”

At the end of the third year he looked at the head monk and said … “I Quit!”

The monk slowly raised his head up, looked him square in the eye, and then said …. “Well, it’s no wonder, all you have done since you got here was complain.”

No good?  Well whadya expect for free anyway.

Off The Wagon

imgres One thing about New Years Resolutions or good intentioned policies to improve your life, they are seldom effective.  I believe it is because (in my case) we are weak and do not have the disciplines needed to obtain the goals.

I fell off the wagon this week.

Tuesday, being a slow day and all, I went over to the internet bus boards and took a little look around to see what was going on.  I just had an urge or a compulsion to see some poorly written missives, bad spelling, idiotic ideas and general BS.  Kind of disappointed in myself, I almost made thirty whole days without any of it. Now there is one wrinkle here I found interesting.  One or two of the main complaints being posted on the boards was “the lack of interest or how boring they had gotten and the fact that no one was posting.”

bus board

I found this amusing, coming from a group of people who rushed in like dogs to lick up their own vomit when someone posted and they felt compelled to critique each and every syllable of it.

Perhaps I can explain it?

There are three things in this life that I try my best to steer clear of.

  1. Religion, no good ever comes out of a discussion on religion, too many people see it in different perspectives.
  2. Politic’s, which I try my level best to stay away from, mainly because I do not truly respect the process or have great knowledge of its workings in relationship to the common man.  Because I never have anything good to say about it period.
  3. Last would be guns and how I see them, and their role in society.  Criminals, or at least the people I view as being criminal and the total lack of enforcement of law.

Over a period of time, I have slowly broken two of the three here, and regrettably, I don’t feel right about it.  My main problem as some would see it, would be my apparent ignorance on any of the three issues on any given day of the week.  I don’t have any real answers, I do have solutions, but apparently most of the time, no one is listening.

My misanthropic outlook on life has a tendency to remove me from the mainstream and to make my viewpoints, thoughts, somewhat irrelevant to what most would consider the norm.  As they are often considered irrational or clearly out of the boundaries of societal values as we know them today.  Much too often, I find myself having to defend my viewpoints and that has grown tiresome.

It might be time for me to just shut up and live out the rest of my life in whatever harmony that I can scrape up and let the rest of it just go to hell. Anywho, I am back on the wagon …. Hello my name is Don, and I have gone two whole days without frequenting bus boards and subjecting myself to a host of internet critic’s.

Now I am off to Facebook, I hear three of my friends there unfriended me.

God Will Save Us

“God’s still up there. The arrogance of people to think that we, human beings, would be able to change what he is doing in the climate is to me outrageous.”  –Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.)

On the fifth day, God let the Earth bring forth every kind of animal — including mosquitoes. Some of them carry West Nile virus, which in 2012 has been reported in 48 states and has killed 118 people. The bulk of the outbreak, among the worst in the nation’s history, is centered in Texas, but Oklahoma is in the top six states with 129 cases reported so far.

When it comes to tropical diseases such as West Nile, warmer weather speeds up the process of production and infection — increasing the population of mosquitoes, speeding their life cycle so that they reach biting age sooner, and rushing development of the virus within the bug’s body. Other mosquito-borne illnesses, such as Dengue fever, are expected to become more common in the U.S. as global temperatures rise. Please, Lord, since you’re the only one who can possibly solve this problem, send us down a tanker of thy DDT.

As you know, America is the first country to send aid when other countries are in trouble.  It is highly appropriate that we now send THANKS to all of the countries that reciprocated for our help with their disasters, misgivings, social turmoil, & poverty by sending to the United States of America monetary and physical help when Sandy ravaged our East Coast leaving dead, homelessness, and pure disaster.

Listed below are all the Countries and World Organizations that are giving us gracious assistance. Please assist in thanking these entities by passing on this information so people all over America can join in and THANK our neighbors, to whom we have invested BILLIONS!

First on the list is…

Maybe now Americans will realize that charity begins at home.  With millions of our people in need and in poverty, let’s save our borrowed money and spend it at home instead of sending it to Egypt, Libya, Pakistan, etc.   Staten Island and parts of New Jersey would gladly thank America if we spent the billions there …  Perhaps the only hope left for America is divine hope and nothing more.

Rushing to meet the new day, standing in the kitchen, apparently not willing to wait for a fresh cup of coffee, in my haste I am tapping the pot for something that is akin to lukewarm, half-brewed brown elixir.

Give it to me!  I need it now!

A little Carrie Underwood on CMT (Country Music Television) and my world seems to be falling into place like an old familiar puzzle, worked before.  But it is a false hope, I still can feel uncertainty in my life this day, gnawing on me from somewhere deep within.

At much as I want it to be, my world is far from perfect.

I am again, standing at the Crossroads, not really knowing which path is the right path, which is the right way and which way is wrong for me. When I find myself in this particular junction it is because I have been brought here and it is usually an unexpected choice that I have to make.

Most of us do not realize it, but following God’s will is a daily decision.

The majority of the time, we are not given a second chance when we stand at the Crossroads. Shakespeare captured the very essence of it in his play Julius Caesar, as Brutus rallied his co-conspirators against Caesar. Though he chose the wrong path, Brutus eloquently articulated the fleeting opportunities these crossroads present.

“There is a tide in the affairs of men which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune; omitted, all the voyage of their life is bound in shallow and in miseries. On such a full sea we are now afloat, and we must take the current when it serves or lose our ventures.”

No more missed opportunities, time is of the essence, we are in the short rows of life. I can ill afford to lightly shrug off the path that God leads me on this week.  I cannot afford to turn a deaf ear to the sweet voice that calls to the deepest reaches of my inner being. Having no way of knowing where this juncture of life will take me. I can ill afford to ignore a prompting from the spirit.

This could be the week that was supposed to be used to change a life. My biggest concern as always was my being prepared for the challenge, this morning, I hope and silently pray that I am ready.  It could be entirely possible that I did not recognize nor heed the call.   I don’t know if the path is the right path, like I said, but if it wasn’t the best path for me, He surely would not be calling me to walk down it.

So through it all I am forced to remain optimistic and upbeat.  The choices that determine our destinies are not always the choices that make the headlines. This week the Lord will gave me choices to either test or build my character and my obedience.

Gather Ye Rosebuds while ye may
Old time is still a flying
And this same flower that smiles today
Tomorrow will be dyin.

Have a great weekend (or don’t, it is your choice) do your level best to touch a heart, to change a life, find someone and make them smile.  Give everyone you meet your absolute evel best … It is the very least you can do.
